Thumo is a technology company in Eswatini that has developed a delivery "super app" connecting users with local businesses for a variety of on-demand services, primarily food and grocery delivery. Sandbox fosters innovation to drive lasting change in industries that are crucial to our future: healthcare, insurance and food & agriculture. Using Pitchbook, students identified relevant M&A transactions, filtered for sector-specific deals, and analyzed deal structures and valuation multiples. This work helped Sandbox reassess its portfolio. Students also researched VC and PE investment activity across Sub-Saharan Africa. Each student explored trends in healthcare, education, or fintech within a selected region.
